Revision 4, Amended October 16th 2007
By viewing and/or posting content on Cubicflow, the Cubicflow forums, or any Cubicflow page/service, you agree to adhere to the Cubicflow Terms of Service.
------------------------
NOTE: when referring to "content" posted by a user, "content" can mean either typed words or pictures.
I. Posted Material and Acceptable Content:
a. By viewing Cubicflow, you agree not to post content that includes, but is not limited to, abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, gratuitously sexual.
b. Flaming: Flaming, in this context, is when someone or a group of people are personally attacked by another person on the forum, for their beliefs, personal orientation, opinions, or pretty much anything. "Flame wars" are not tolerated. While it is not acceptable to start a flame war, it is also not acceptable to contribute to one. If you see a flame war or one that might happen, please inform any member of forum moderation/administration. Remember, debates are fine, but keep it civil.
c. Spamming: General "silly talk" is fine, as long as it is posted in the "Ramblings" forum. Want to post funny macro images? Go for it. But keep all that general nonsense in that Ramblings forum, please. That said, certain kinds of spam are NOT acceptable under any circumstances. This includes, but is not limited to, pyramid schemes, phishing scams, "free iPod/xbox/ps3/anything" sites (again, pyramid schemes), online poker sites like Party Poker, etc. Attempting to post exploitable code, malware, or anything of the nature will also not be tolerated. In such cases, Cubicflow will report all instances to the proper authorities, including the FBI's cyber-crime section.
d. In general, treat your fellow members with respect, and that respect will be extended to you.
II. User Profiles:
a. Signatures: Make your signature a reasonable size. The norm is usually around 500 pixels long x 100 pixels tall max, though size and aspect ratio can obviously vary. A few lines of text added on is fine too. We aren't going to be really strict on signature sizes, but just follow these suggestions so page load time is as short as possible and doesn't detract from the rest of the page. Remember, staff can and will remove any signatures that are ostentatiously large or violate the Terms of Service for posted content.
b. Remember, signatures count as posted content, and are considered the same in regards to the Terms of Service.
III. Staff and Moderation:
a. The Cubicflow staff members are here to ensure that Cubicflow becomes the best it can. As such, part of their duties are to moderate the community forums. So remember, those staff members have the authority to exercise, upon their discretion, any action that needs to be taken in regards to community moderation. And of course, the Staff members are also community members, so treat them all with respect, just as you should with every member of Cubicflow. Consider staff members people you can look up to, look towards for guidance, or simply provide feedback to. They are your friends.
b. Appealing a staff member decision: Remember, Cubicflow Staff only takes disciplinary action when, upon discretion, that staff member/the staff as a group feels the need to do so, to preserve the integrity of the community. Abusively arguing with a staff member of a decision such as a suspension or a ban is pointless; there are civil ways you can attempt to appeal a staff decision. Likewise, any attempt to administer "retribution" by spamming the forums or otherwise violating the ToS because of a staff decision will pretty much lead to a permanent IP address and account ban. If you feel a staff member has exercised bad judgment or you wish to appeal a staff member's decision, there are a few things you can do:
1. First of all, step back and look at the situation. Try to see the situation from the view of the staff, or from an outside view in general. Coming to terms with the situation and putting egos aside will result in the quickest, easiest solution for everyone, not to mention respect from the staff.
2. Still think the staff made a bad decision or you just want to explain your opinion/your side of the story/etc? Well, the easiest thing you can do is contact the staff member that made the decision, or another staff member if you feel more comfortable doing so. Remember, with the exception of the head administrator(s), staff members will not just overturn another staff member's decisions without consultation and discussion. Of course, you may take your case/opinions directly to the top by contacting the head administrator/Cubicflow CEO. Either way, the staff as a group will review the situation and contact you. Posting publicly on forums your objection to a staff decision (in a civil manner) is of course your right. However, contacting staff in a private manner such as a Private Message or by instant messenger or email is preferred for matters such as bans and suspensions. For matters of community improvement and feedback, we highly suggest posting these in our Feedback and Suggestions forum so that they can be discussed community-wide.
* Remember, all staff contact information can be found at www.cubicflow.com/about.php
